You are going to work in a different sector

StiPP is the pension fund for people working in the employment agency and secondment sector. If you stop working in this sector, you stop accruing pension at StiPP. Your membership of the pension fund stops automatically if your employer does not provide StiPP with any pay details for you for three months. By then we assume that you are no longer working for this employer.

TO DO

What happens to your pension?

If your pension is less than €592.51 (2024) gross per year

If you are accruing pension benefits through your new employer, we will transfer the pension benefits you have accrued at StiPP to your new pension provider. We do this 11 months after you have stopped accruing pension benefits at StiPP. You do not have to do anything.

If you are not accruing pension benefits through your new employer, your pension remains at StiPP. After five years you will receive a pension commutation offer from us. This means you can choose to have your pension paid out early as a lump sum.

If your pension is more than €592.51 (2024) gross per year

In this case you can take the StiPP pension with you to your new employer’s pension fund. This is known as individual transfer of accrued benefits. Please contact your new pension fund. They will arrange it for you. If you do nothing, your accrued pension benefits will remain at StiPP.

If your accrued pension benefits are less than €2 gross per year, your pension will lapse. This is laid down by law.
