Question of the month: I am accruing pension with StiPP. What will change for me in the new pension scheme?

Every month we answer a question in this section. These are questions that are often asked to employees at our customer service. This month's question is:

I accrue pension with StiPP. What will change for me in the new pension scheme?

StiPP will have a new pension scheme. From 1 January 2026, you will accrue pension in this scheme. Much remains the same, but there are also some changes.

Much remains the same

You continue to accrue pension through your employer. You do this, just like in the scheme that is currently in place, through a contribution scheme. Are you retiring? Then you will receive a pension for the rest of your life. StiPP will transfer the pension capital that you accrue, accrued or receive to the new scheme.

This is what is changing

  • There will be one scheme for everyone
We no longer make a distinction between the Basic Scheme and the Plus Scheme.
  • You will save more for later
You are going to accrue more pension. But also pay more. You do this together with your employer. Of the 23.4% pension premium , you pay 7.5%. Your employer pays 15.9%.
  • You are insured in the event of death and disability
If you die while accruing pension with StiPP, there is a pension for your partner and for your children. Are you accruing pension with StiPP and do you become incapacitated for work? If you meet the conditions, StiPP will continue to pay the premium for the part that you are incapacitated for work.
  • You will receive an extra amount on top of your pension assets
We expect everyone to receive an extra amount with their pension once when they transition to the new scheme. Employees from the age of 59 will also receive an extra amount in the event of the transfer. We are doing this because we expect them to accrue less pension in the new scheme than they do now.*

In the Transition Plan you can read all the details about the new StiPP scheme.
