In the new pension system, all employees will accrue pension in a defined contribution scheme. The StiPP pension scheme is already a defined contribution scheme. This means that you will continue to accrue pension in the same way. However, the StiPP pension scheme will be adjusted on a number of important points.
What you can count on is:
- Are you accruing pension with StiPP? Then you will retain your pension assets. This amount will be transferred to the new pension scheme.
- In the new StiPP pension scheme, you will accrue more pension. The pension premium will go up. You pay the premium together with your employer.
- Under the new scheme, you are insured in the event of death and – under certain conditions – incapacity for work.
- Employees aged 59 and over will receive a one-off extra amount in addition to their pension assets when they switch to the new pension scheme. We call this compensation. This is because they are expected to accrue less pension in the new scheme than in the current scheme.
- Do you receive a pension benefit from StiPP? Then you will keep your benefit. The benefit will be transferred to the new pension scheme.
The transition plan sets out the substantive changes in the StiPP pension scheme.
